Training Program

The Cambodian Ophthalmological Society (COS) has developed an ophthalmology training program and a curriculum in collaboration with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and the University of Health Sciences (UHS).

COS residents have their own training centres, two in Phnom Penh (Preah Ang Duong Hospital and Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital) and one in a province (Caritas's Takeo Eye Hospital) .

The Eye Camps are produced by the National Program for Eye Health (NPEH) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MoH) with sponsorship by the Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) to help poor and disadvantaged people in rural provinces. During the duration of the visit, residents can also gain practical skills with professional doctors. You will find more information about the National Guidelines for Surgical Eye Camps in publication section. After residency training for three years in Cambodia, there is a residency observership for two months in Nepal, Tilganga Eye Hospital.
